In December WALK (Women of African Leadership in Khayelitsha), had their youth camp. WALK was established in Khayelitsha in 2007 in a quest to develop the young girls and young adult women to live for the kingdom of God. In 2009 it branched out to Bekele, near Nyanga.
I was asked to be one of the facilitators for this camp. This was my second consecutive year being involved with the camp. At the camp we started teaching CrossRoads.
During that week, I felt a confirmation I had been feeling for a little while – that I should start working with the youth in townships. So, as of this year, I will be helping Rose Thompson, who is responsible for the Bekele WALK program. Together, we will continue to teach the Crossroads curriculum to the girls of WALK.
